Dot NAME Domain Names

Established in 2001, the Dot NAME generic top-level domain name extension is the sole TLD intended for personal sites only. These domain names can consist of personal or fictional names, nicknames and/or other titles people are popular by. Initially, solely 3rd-level registrations were permitted, so if you desired to register john.doe.name, you were supposed to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was loosened and second-level registrations were also permitted. Existing third-level domain names remained working.
